The location is terrific. Right on the square and easy walking distance to many attractions. The bar was fun. Cool atmosphere. Lots of dark, heavy wood. Old European feel.
The side of the hotel where I stayed was very noisy. Sounded like someone rolling beer barrels down the alley at all times of night and early morning. There was also the strong smell of food cooking that came in through the windows. Be sure to ask for a room not on that alley.
There were a few things amiss in our room - sink cracked, the lock to the bathroom door stuck and the handle to window loose. And our friends' room's bathroom was very mouldy and there was a bad odour from it.
The staff are genuinely friendly and most helpful, the hotel is very well run, and our room was well equipped and perfectly presented. We were staying only two nights but the towels were changed and all else replaced for the second day. The location is probably the best in Galway city centre with Eyre Square in front and very restricted through traffic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.
Very noisy at night, tried to call the night porter on 3 different occasions and there was no reply.
The breakfast was very good, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious. The location was great -- easy to/from the train station and very close to the shopping in Galway.
They had advertised free wifi service throughout the hotel, and that's why I chose it over a less expensive hotel, but I could not get a serviceable signal in my room nor in the lobby. The only place you could use hair styling tools in front of a mirror was the darkest corner of the room. No housekeeping service, they just left some fresh towels & toiletries by my door in the hallway.
The rooms were modern and clean. The food in the bar was really good for bar food. The location of the hotel is on Eyre square so it's fantastic. The check in staff were brilliant and extremely helpful over our 2 night stay. Would definitely recommend!!!
bar/restaurant/food all in one location , late bar, well supervised, reception staff super helpful
Staff were helpful and rooms were nicely decorated and well ventilated, showers were brill, really powerful, and excellant location, good band and good door men, really young people were in a different level, good co ordination
3 of us stayed the night so we booked 1 single room and 1 double room, I was staying in single room, however my room was huge, I had a queen bed which would fit 6 people in, the couple got a tiny room with only a double bed and were walking into each other, I swapped with them but the hotel should have allocated the rooms better!! Otherwise lovely stay and excellant location
Very central location. Room was modern and spotless. Our room was to the rear of the hotel and overlooked a lane with an adjoining nite-club's smoking area. Noise was not a problem with us although if the plan was not to be up too late I would perhaps request a room at the front of the hotel instead. Staff were very friendly and corteous. We booked room-only and full irish breakfast was only 7euro!. The price of the hotel was a few euro dearer than some hotels a mile or two outside town, but was worth it for the convenience of the city centre location. We had a very enjoyable, hassle free stay !.
Great location, excellent breakfast included, friendly staff, decent rooms.
Leak in hallway that soaked carpets and seemed like no one was fixing.
I didnt like the fire alarm going off at 3.30 in the morning and was dissapointed there was no bath in my room
Location. Absolutely nothing else
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. That includes many other countries in Europe. We stay in lots of hotels as we go away about 6 times a year. It was like a bar with awful rooms overhead. ( we saw some room doors' open as we were leaving and the rooms were far superior to ours). I think we may have been given a room for one as it was very small and one chair and one armchair and a tiny table. There was no soap and no hair dryer. It overlooked some roofs of buildings - that was the view from the window. It was more expensive than other 4 star hotels in central Galway - which we have stayed in - but they unfortunately were booked out. We were extremely disappointed and would advise you to remove it from your list of Galway hotels. I hope to contact the manager at the weekend as the reception staff did not seem to be interested. We book frequently with Booked.net and hope that you take reviews seriously. This is the first time we had any complaint about any of your hotels. I feel very sad that this is a hotel in our own country - Ireland. A total rip off and not up to standard of a 1 star hotel.
I found the hotel very good, staff very friendly and helpfull
The location was fantastic, right in the centre of Galway. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The pub downstairs was excellent.
It was very noisy until the wee hours of the morning, although we had been forewarned. The pillows were terrible and the bed was not the most comfortable.
It was a good place to stay very central and the staff were very helpful
